Scientists have long been trying to unify all the theories currently present and to make Theory of Everything (TOE). With this theory, we will be able to understand the working of this universe and predict the outcome of any experiments carried out in principle.
Basically they are trying to unify the 4 forces of nature:
1) Gravitational
2) Electromagnetism
3) Weak Interaction
4) Strong Interaction
Gravitational force is something which we can feel and understand at the macro level. But it is the weakest than the other forces. You don't see or feel the other forces, but they are much stronger than the gravitational force. Gravitation has been explained by Classical mechanics.
The other 3 forces are active at the quantum level where classical mechanics is not applicable and are explained by Quantum mechanics. At quantum level, all our understanding of the universe viewed through classical mechanics fails as the quantum particles behave in a completely different way.
Now coming back to the topic, we currently have a theory which unifies Electromagnetism, Weak and Strong interaction and is known as Grand Unified Theory. This theory is incomplete as the predicted Higgs Boson has not yet been discovered and for which an experiment is being carried out in Geneva, Switzerland where Large Hadron Collider has been made.
For TOE, we need to unify Gravitation as well, which the scientist have not been able to do. Now there are many hurdles and lot of complexities involved in this. What we basically need is a simple equation which explains everything.
In future, if TOE comes into existence it will be able to explain every human beings basic questions i.e. "How everything works", "How we came into existence", "Why are we here", "Does God exist?"
Pretty controversial if you ask me. Ain't it? The religious lunatics would be up in arms if anything of this sort comes into existence and why not, as it would shake the basic fundamentals of human nature i.e. Faith in God.
I will continue with this in my next post as I don't want to bore you guys with a long article and also it would give you time to understand the concepts that I have touched in this post. Looking forward to see some comments from my followers (if there are any!!! :) ).
