Rooting samsung galaxy 3

Last time I had told you how I had installed froyo on my cell. Today, I will tell you how I rooted it.

Rooting is the process wherein you get access to system folders. In Unix terms, to get root level access. Once rooted, you can play with the system files. If you are not good in this, please don't try as it may brick your phone and nullify your warranty.

Now, I have warned you, but if you still want to continue, then follow the link which gives step-by-step guide for this:

Its very simple and you wont feel any difference. But once you go into the applications menu, you will see an app called 'Superuser'. With this app, you can control which app gets the 'su'  permission. When you run an app which requires root permission, you get a pop-up asking for confirmation.

As you all know, our phone does not support live wallpapers. Let me tell you, they are beautiful. They are not like your standard wallpapers. Only the high-end droids have them. I had wanted those on my cell, and after doing some research, found out that we can get them, but we need to root our cell. So, you understood my main reason for rooting my phone. Go through the below link to get the live wallpapers.

I have followed the above procedure and now I have live wallpapers running on it.

Below are some images:

Here's a video showing live wallpaper in action, sorry for the loss of focus:

After I had done the rooting and installed live wallpapers, I tried to push the adobe flash 10.1 apk into the /system/app, but was not successful as there was no space left. I tried to push it to /data/app but again was not successful. But in the process, I guess, I did something wrong, coz the next day when I restarted my phone, it got stuck in the Samsung logo page. It scared me a lot. I flashed my phone again with the froyo firmware and the issue got resolved. A close shave I must say. Anyways, I have rooted my phone again. One thing of importance is that you should not play with the system files unless you know what you are doing.

Happy rooting folks.
